Personal projects give you the opportunity to breathe and run away from your daily routine. You can enjoy your art without deadlines, you can make experiments improving your skills and last but not least you can express your ideas and feelings. In this article, you can explore Mohamed's Essabar atmospherical scenario inside the Paris National Opera. Enjoy!

About Me.

Hello 3D Community!

My name is Essabar Mohamed, Moroccan, trained in 3D art by Illuminance Tunis. I'm also an interior designer and my studies helped me a lot to enter the 3D Art field a lot easier. I am delighted to have the honor of presenting the making-of article for my recent project "La Derniere Dance", and I hope that my expertise will be useful to other artists at least as a source of inspiration and why not as a short source of learning.

About The Project.

The main objective of my work is to let the spectator dream. In this case, with the project "La Derniere Dance", I wanted to show the artistic atmosphere of a theater and the feelings you might get by participating in a concert event. That is why I chose the Paris National Opera as the venue.

Software Used.

Below, you can find the list of software used:

3DS Max – Modeling

Corona Renderer – Rendering

Adobe Photoshop - Post-production

References.

In my opinion, the starting point is to know the history of art and to be able to recreate photography of architecture, to understand how the several materials in a scene behave in real lighting conditions. This can help ensure that the final images accurately represent the desired aesthetic.

Lighting.

The mechanics of light in a computer-generated 3D scene follows the same natural principle of photon scattering, through a process called Ray Tracing. The rays bounce off the shapes and interact with their materials, defining how the objects appear in the final image. Lights reveal the dimensionality of all that exists within a 3D scene. In this project, I used simple Corona lights to create the desired atmosphere with artificial light.

Below are two official tutorials that will help you easily understand how to light a 3d scene and the power of light mix tool

Materials.

In my projects, I use textures from substance 3D Community Assets. I find them really good and precise, as well as close to my personal taste. The most important materials in my scene are wood, velvet, and metallic materials: copper and gold.

Post-Production.

Most of the footage for the "La DerniereDance" project was created with slight post-production touches. Only small adjustments were made in adobe photoshop. The biggest post-production manipulation was embedding extras.

Final Images.
